M/s ŚWINOUJŚCIE built in the Romanian shipyard DROBETA-TURNU SEVERIN to the order of PZM (POLSTEAM). Launched on July 10, 1968, completed on December 20, 1969. Taken over by PLO (Polish Ocean Lines) after completing the first voyage on January 24, 1970. The ship remained on Western European lines. Sold in October 1986 to a Greek shipowner, she changed her name to ELIAS II, and in 1987 to FOUR STAR I. It listed due to cargo shifting in a storm in the Ionian Sea and sank on December 9, 1988, while traveling from Izmir to Barcelona with a cargo of marble blocks. Unfortunately, three crew members lost their lives in this disaster.
I have already written about poorly designed and even worse built ships in other comments. Let me just remind you that 44 Polish sailors lost their lives in the disasters of the BUSKO ZDROJ and KUDOWA ZDROJ ships, built according to the same design and in the same shipyard.
