Description:
The Soviet Danube Shipping Company’s 1967 Budapest built Kalmius, photographed in the Bosphorus from a passing ferry on 22 December 1975, was one of a large number of similar ships built for the Soviet Union. She passed to the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company in 1991 and continued trading until arriving at Setubal on 4 November 1999. There, seeking to recover unpaid wages, the crew took strike action. She was registered in Cambodia during 2000, sailing for Lisbon on 7 May 2001 and probably soon thereafter scrapped locally.
