Description:

My photo of the 1939 Oakland built Hollyhock Class Lighthouse Tender USCGC Fir (WLM-212) seen moored in Stockton, United States, undergoing restoration as a floating museum on August 20th, 2023.

Originally built classified as a Coast Guard Cutter for the United States Coast Guard as USCGC Fir (WAGL 212) in 1939, her checkered career included service in World War II patrolling the Washington and Oregon coasts and rescuing dozens in different maritime casualties. Reclassified in 1965 as a USCGC Fir (WLM-212), she was retired in 1990. Several failed attempts to restore her as a museum have commenced since under different owners, she is currently owned by the The Lighthouse Project LLC, which purchased her and commenced restoration efforts in 2017. Put up for sale in 2023, who knows what the future hold for this classic ship.

You can also see in this image the bow of the 1955 Hamburg built former Ferry AURORA (IMO 5088227) of Christopher Wilson, also undergoing restoration in Stockton.
