Limerick Donegal Galway Antrim all belonged to Trinder anderson, somethng to do with Avenmue Shipping. They were nicknamed hungry goose because of the house flag. They were bought by P.O. Regards Jan.

Avenue Steamship ships were the non-reefer side of the Federal Liner run to and from Australasia and were heavily committed during the Wool Season. Avenue ships were all named after Irish counties; "GALWAY", "LIMERICK", come to mind. A number of the Avenue ships were managed by Triner, Anderson (Australind Steamship Co.) who were associated with P&O., and when they were not on the liner run they went tramping. They were smaller versions of the Federal ships and just as handsome ;-)

DONEGAL was built by Alexander Stephen's yard in Glasgow and was completed in 1957 for the Avenue Shipping Co, a division of P&O.
In 1975 under P&Os Corporate Naming Scheme she became STRATHIRVINE and was sold on in 1977 becoming ATHINA.
She was scrapped under that name in 1980 at Kaohsiung.
