HMCS Summerside MM711 at Halifax,NS on 23.07.2007. These ships are equipped with containerized mine hunting/sweeping suits which can be rapidly changed out to meet the threat presented.They are also used extensively for training Reserve Navy personnel.
Summerside commissioned in July 1999.
LOA 181 ft,beam37 ft,draught 11 ft.
Displacement:970 tons.
Machinery:Diesel(4)electric operating two electric 'Z' drives,speed 15 knots.
Armament: one 40mm Bofors gun,two 12.7mm MG.
