Description:

I was very interested in Malcolm Cranfield's shot of her as TAMAMIMA. One of a long series of Sunderland built Bank liners of the 1970s she came from the Pallion(?) yard in Sunderland in 1978.
Still brand new, she came to the Meadowside Granary in Glasgow during May 1979 and this shot shows her sharing the quayside with the Freedom/ Fortune ATREUS built in 1974 and PHILEMON built in 1972 as CARLOTTA BOLTEN.

Paul - An interesting photograph and coincidentally she is still being circulated around the Freight Market , mainly by Dubai brokers and is currently open SPOT Arabian Gulf. she is now known as the "NOVANOOR" which may imply Indian or Pakistani owners. They are looking for cargoes direction KARACHI- W.C. INDIA Range - Maybe the end of her days? Maybe not as she could be on one of the many break-bulk semi-liner runs that still operate from the sub-continent. Also, she is now flying the Sierra Leonian flag and is registered in Freetown., that well known "maritime centre" Good to see a proper ship with real cargo gear still sailing though those triple hatches could be a right nuisance at times :-D By the way the ship ahead of the "Fortune" is, as you probably know , an "Zipship" . What a contrast.

Sorry Paul I'm confusing you and me :-D The smaller black hulled ship is the "Zipship" not the "Fortune" .Sorry. also, remember now that the Bank boats from the Pallion yard were twin hatches not triple . Bad enough anyway ;-) Once again sorry and do keep your photographs coming as I always find them very interesting .Cheers.

Think she came from the Pallion yard if that's the one where they have to pass under the road bridge when they come out. Never was lucky enough to see one going under unfortunately.
