The Cape Nome was one of the "Seabridge" class ships, built originally for Moore-McCormack's Baltic run, where it's often cold. Note the little enclosed, heated cabin for the bow lookout.

Hi Marc,
nice ships in this area.
Is it still possible to got there ? I must be the heaven for old cargo liner lovers like me to make a tour to this area.

Hi Gerolf

That year I had arranged a tour of the 'Ghost Fleet' with Marad who provided me with a launch to document the ships. I don't think it's possible at this time for individuals to arrange such tours anymore due to security restrictions.
This year I did venture fairly close to them in a chartered boat as the main shipping channel passes right next to the ships. Most of these are slated to the scrap heap fairly soon so I wanted to see them again before they leave for good.

Regards,

Marc

Pretty sure the Juby is gone now, as we got all of her spare safety equipment and parts delivered to the USTS Empire State at SUNY Maritime College not long ago, where it was relabeled and stored in our safety cage.
