Description:

The upbound American Courage has just entered the Detroit River from Lake Erie on August 11, 2007. Built in 1979 as the Fred R. White, Jr. the Great Lakes bulker sailed under the Oglebay Norton flag until it was sold to the American Steamship Co. in 2006 and given its present name.

Thanks very much for your comments -- I very much appreciate them. The photo was taken from an excursion boat as the American Courage overtook us. The excursion was sponsored by the "Boatnerd" group but unfortunately this was the only vessel we saw while out on the river for about 4 hours.
