The Nysted almost lost steering control on her way into NY Harbor and had to get a 4 tug escort to her berth. She was found to have sheared almost every tooth off her steering gear and was deemed unsuitable to leave NY Harbor. After discharging all her containers, she came over from APM Terminals to the layberth at Port Newark where she sat for over a month having her entire steering gear system replaced.
Once she was repaired and left, her sister, Nele Maersk, took her place. Same problem. :-o
