The first of King Arthurs Knights knighted by Arthur at the round table at his crowning. Brother of Sir Lucas the Butler, Sir Bedivere was the sole survivor of the Great Battle in the West. He carried the mortally wounded Arthur to the lake where he threw the sword Excalibur into the water. After the Kings death Bedivere returned to Glastonbury and became a hermit.
