Description:
Ex Main Express in Port Kelang 2 years ago. i have no idea if she's still in service.
well, according to her outer appearance and her age, my bet would be gadani beach or something like that.

COMMENT THIS PHOTO(4)
Together with you I am very surprised with this shot.
She is indeed ex-Main Express.
Scrapping of both non-lenghtened ex Hapag-Lloyd ships (Rhein Express and Main Express) were announced in 02-2005.
They were sailing at that moment as XING HAI HE (ex Main Express) and LONG HAI HE (ex Rhein Express)
Later the latter was spotted under a new Chinese name YIN MAO FU by Hans Rosenkranz (I have a picture of Hans in my collection under the name YIN MAO FU. This ship was a long time on his own site as a "mistery ship"
Here is the naming history of both ships:
YIN MAO FU; LONG HAI HE ('05); GREEN ISLAND ('89); RHEIN EXPRESS ('81); ORIENTAL EXPORTER ('76); RHEIN EXPRESS ('73) (IMO 7116999)
and
JIN MAO FU; XING HAI HE('05); NGAN CHAU ('89); MAIN EXPRESS ('81); ORIENTAL IMPORTER ('76); MAIN EXPRESS ('73) (IMO 7126994)
I don't know if the ships are scrapped at this moment.......
Kindest regards,
Dick

Equasis reports her status as "dead" with update from 21.02.2005. So Stefan, if you took the photo three years ago this could be right.
Even Miramar states "BU China 7.99 (not reported until 2.2005)". But they don't have the later names which Dick stated in his comment. Maybe Miramar didn't get this information.

well i don't know if it is exactly two years ago that i shot this pic (i was serving 2 times 6 months on the vessel from where i took this pic).
so it might be, that it's maybe already 2,5 or maximum 3 years old (then it's really one of the latest pics of this vessel).
however, i made some more pics when i saw the old "hapag" and "main express" welding marks. so i will see what i find in my files and put it online if someone is interested.
brgds,
stefan

Miramar Ship Index reports that MAIN EXPRESS had been broken up in China in 1999. The other four vessels of this class had been sold to Lykes Lines and later broken up. But when your photo is two years old there must be something mysterious in this case. Maybe some other members can help.

Holger
