Description:

MAO LIN is seen arriving at Birkenhead on 30th May 1977.

Built at Split in 1958 as CRUZEIRO DO SUL for Suisse Atlantique, she was for some reason renamed CASTASEGNA in 1965.

Sold to China in 1973, under the nominal ownership of Yick Fung Shipping & Enterprises of Hong Kong, she was renamed MINDANAO SEA and placed under the Somalia flag.

In 1976 she was transferred to China Ocean Shipping of Guangzhou, and renamed MAO LIN. Miramar reports her as "deleted" in 1992.

Hi Malcolm, the reason why she was renamed from CRUZEIRO DO SUL http://www.swiss-ships.ch/schiffe-ausland/suisat/cruzeiro-do-sul_5LUB/fr_cruzeiro-do-sul_5LUB.htm to CASTASEGNA (a small village in canton Graubünden) was the flag change to the Swiss flag http://www.swiss-ships.ch/schiffe/castasegna_075/fr_castasegna_075.htm
