Description:

Superfast containervessel Maersk Brooklyn leaving port of Long Beach late in the day. The vessel is a panamax ship and is fitted with a 12RTA96 Sulzer engine enabling them to steam at in excess of 32 kn fully loaded.
The vessels have been built specifically for the transamerican trade to compete with the railroads crossing the north american continent.

Thank you very much for the extra info on the photo. I have always been wondering, for what these ships actually were built, I have not seen them designated to a certain service though.
Now, I heard that ALL of them are going for cold lay-up - I wonder, whether anything of these rumours is true ?
