A real oldie Ken, by today's standards and not a regular at Tilbury, or perhaps I've just not been looking closely enough? I remember her as the TFL Independence running out of Felixstowe.

Hi Phil,

It was her first visit to Tilbury, she is scheduled again on the 9th, I hope she doesn't go the way of her sister MSC Venice.

Ken

Yes great catch Ken. Don't expect to see many of this vintage for much longer now. With the order book as it is and such a large percentage of the box ship fleet already sitting idle it is amazing that such an old one is still trading.
Mind you, pretty much any container ship can be chartered at the moment for about US$6,000/day, whether it be one of these or a post-panamax! Incredible times. Any container ship built pre 1990 is only effectively worth its scrap value at the moment, so ones like this are living on borrowed time. There wont be any 'old' containerships to be seen before too long.

Many thanks John, I understand what you are saying about age, guess we must catch them while we can, this one will most likely very soon go the way of her sister MSC Venice which was caught in the river not long back.

Regards
Ken
