The tug tender Calshot currently being restored in Southampton, seen 7/31/09.
Built in 1930 by John I Thornycroft and Co. in Woolston.
Originally operated by Red Funnel was sold in 1964 to Port and Liner Services (Ireland) a branch of Holland America. She was renamed the Galway Bay and tendered passengers from liners such as Maasdam and Ryndam from Galway Bay to Galway Harbour. Following the decline of liner traffic she became a passenger ferry from Galway to the Aran Islands. When she was withdrawn from this service she was purchased by the Southampton City Council and was returned for preservation. She is being restored by the Tug Tender Calshot Trust and her name has reverted to Calshot.
