Ship built by Adolf Warski Shipyard [not Nowa (New) Shipyard] for Polish Ocean Lines (PLO). Project B445/1/9. Launching took place on July 28, 1970. Raising the Polish flag On December 10, 1970, the freighter entered service on the East African Line. In October 1971, the ship lost her propeller in the Indian Ocean. She was towed to the port of Mombasa by the PLO's twin vessel m/v Wladyslaw Jagiello. A spare propeller was installed in Mombasa and the ship was quickly returned to her service. On January 3, 1990, on the way from Port Sudan to Massawa, the ship was hit by a rocket at a distance of 50 nautical miles from the port of destination. After two days, the Polish ship (also belonging to PLO) Adam Asnyk found a burnt wreck without lifeboats in the vicinity of MERSA GULBUB. The ship's crew were kidnapped as hostages by a detachment of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Eritrea. The hostages were released on January 21, 1990 and returned to Poland.
The wreck remained at the abeam crash site of MERSA Gulbub.
