1930 Empress Japan. She was the largest and fastest of Canadian Pacific's Trans-Pacific service out of Vancouver. Besides passengers, silk for the rag trade in New York and Montreal was the big revenue earning cargo. Express trains were loaded with silk at the dock in Vancouver given priority even over passenger trains to get to eastern markets. You could say it was the world's first inter-modal sevice. The Empress of Japan also held the Pacific Blue Ribband for I believe 32 years.

Thanks for the comments. As a youngster, I saw her quite often passing my home in the fifhties when named Empress of Scotland.

All her liveries...?
She only carried two: Canadian Pacific and Hamburg Atlantik Linie. OK there was the grey of war time as well.
