Thanks Dave. I have now scanned a few of my photos of her. I think that the first ones were taken at Barton, not at Irlam, but you will probably know for sure. The final one was taken passing Ellesmere Port, shortly before you took your photo at Eastham. By then she had already been prepared for sea so had no need to stop at the crane berth. Many thanks for helping me to recall these memories! Best regards. Malcolm.

Hi Malcolm, thanks for that info, especially the date.
I thought that shortly after posting this photo i may have put down the wrong year, you have confirmed that.
Many outward bound ships in those days were to high for the bridges.
All the upper locks have test wires,i have seen them knocked off many times,i have also seen masts clip the top of bridges a number of times.
She had just left the crane berth at Eastham after having her masts and funnel replaced.

Well done David! I had also photographed GEORGE in the Manchester Ship Canal - on consecutive days as her airdraft on leaving Manchester was too high and she had to take on extra ballast, maybe at Irlam, before proceeding to sea. The date at Eastham was 29th September 1974. Best wishes. Malcolm
