Description:
The 1947 Burntisland built ALMAR, owned by Z.&G. Halcoussis of Piraeus, is seen passing Hoek van Holland outbound from Rotterdam early on 31st May 1972 during a voyage from Karachi to Liverpool with a cargo of animal feedstuffs.
Built for J&C Harrison as HARPALION and purchased by Greece in 1962, ALMAR was sold in 1976 and renamed ILESHA LION. After arriving off Apapa/Lagos on 2.1.77 from Antwerp, she sailed to Abidjan for stores while waiting for berthing instructions but suffered an engine room fire on 14.6.77 and was eventually broken up at Santander as HALLI, arriving there on 4.6.79
